Something on the healthier side? We absolutely love whipping up espresso gelato.

Is The Dessert Done?

It’s best to reference the recipe for exact times and ways to tell it’s ready, but here are some fairly universal ways to check if things are ready:

  • Cakes, dessert loaf – the cake should spring back into place when touched lightly. The edges should be slightly more golden than the center, and a toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
  • Cookies, tarts – the edges will be golden brown. For cookies, the center will still be soft but will harden during cooling. Tarts and pie should have a soft interior, with a golden flaky crust.
  • Cheesecake, panna cotta, custard – anything that sets in the fridge will be soft or liquid to begin with and thicken as they set. Look for a decent amount of jiggle, but a dessert that holds it’s shape.
