Hot chocolate is the perfect Christmas eve drink, and great after a busy day in the cold. The slow cooker never gets hot enough to burn milk on low, so you can keep it warm until you come inside!

The best homemade hot chocolate is made with simple ingredients. We love a classic, rich, creamy hot chocolate without condensed milk.

How To Make CrockPot Hot Chocolate

Slow cooker hot chocolate is as easy as adding the ingredients in and turning it on!

  1. Add milk, heavy cream, cocoa powder, vanilla, and chocolate to a slow cooker.
  2. Whisk until cocoa powder is combined, and turn slow cooker to low.

Tips For Making CrockPot Hot Chocolate

Some quick tips to ensure the slow cooker hot chocolate comes out rich and creamy every time:

  • For CrockPot white hot chocolate, substitute the semisweet chocolate for white chocolate.
  • For adult hot chocolates, add an ounce of Bailey’s or Kahlua while serving.
  • For sweeter hot chocolate, adjust the sugar to ½ cup.
  • If making in advance, keep the CrockPot or slow cooker on a low or warm setting.
  • If doubling the recipe, add 1 hour to the cooking time.
  • Semisweet mini chocolate chips work well as the chocolate in this recipe and double as a topping!

How To Store Leftover Hot Chocolate

Leftover hot chocolate? It’s easy to store, reheat, and use in other recipes!

Store it in the fridge in an airtight container or pitcher. Leftover hot chocolate will last up to 5 days in the fridge. Hot chocolate does not freeze well.

Leftover hot chocolate is delicious in place of milk in recipes like pancakes, waffles, or even in cereal!

To reheat leftover CrockPot hot chocolate, place it in a pot over medium-low heat and heat slowly, ensuring the milk doesn’t burn.
